This book provided me with some very vivid memories of my own childhood on a farm not a million miles away, although I am not quite old enough to remember the shire horses. I certainly remember my Mother busy in the kitchen bottling, canning, making chutneys and feeding quite a number of men at harvest and threshing time. Thank you so much for taking the time to write down some of the recipes of the forties and fifties when all the ingredients were sourced locally and used in their due season. Yes, a trip down memory lane that brought a tear to my eye.
